Form (definition): a particular way in which a thing exists or appears; bring together parts or combine to create something.

Philosophy

Form Osteopathy starts with an appreciation of who you are and how you are designed.

We believe in patient-centred care. This means understanding what your need is and providing treatment tailored to you and your unique form.

Our approach is to treat your pain or injury and give you the tools to heal and recover.

But we also strongly believe that attention needs to be given to the foundations that underpin long-term health – such as exercise, nutrition and sleep.

We educate our clients on how they can be their most healthy, vibrant selves.

Our process

Our approach to the osteopathy process - discovery | Form Osteopathy

Discovery

You’re in pain – that’s why you’re here. When pain or injury arises, the initial consultation is critical.

This consultation allows us to understand the distribution of pain (where it hurts) and the pattern of pain (when and why it hurts). It also allows us to determine the anatomical structure causing your pain.

Knowing your past medical and injury history helps contextualise your pain and assists with predicting outcomes and recovery timeframes.

And by knowing your goals from the outset, this helps to anchor the recovery plan.

Assessment and diagnosis

The next step is assessment and diagnosis of the pain presentation using a combination of clinical tests and movement analysis.

We appreciate the natural variations in people’s morphology (how you are designed) and how this influences movement.

At this stage, we are assessing for abnormalities and asymmetries that may be the cause or result of the pain you’re experiencing.

Our approach to the osteopathy process - immediate improvement in function | Form Osteopathy

Immediate
improvement
in function

Once we have a working diagnosis, we seek to achieve immediate improvement in function and/or a reduction in pain.

Often, this is achieved through hands-on treatment that increases your range of motion, with a reduction in pain experienced in the following 24-hours.

Our approach to the osteopathy process - holistic approach to treatment | Form Osteopathy

Holistic approach
to treatment

Hands-on treatment can have a significant impact in reducing pain. But our approach is to look beyond just hands-on treatment and to how we can improve your body’s mechanisms of self-healing.

Armed with the right knowledge, we help you to nurture your own recovery through a holistic approach to your health.
